A common problem with weight loss for many people is staying with the program. In beginning stages, it is very easy to be completely motivated to meeting our initial weight loss goals. After some time, even if you have been successful, it can be more and more difficult to stay motivated. It does not happen to everyone, though. People can get the weight loss they want, and keep it off. How is it accomplished?
It is important to define a specific, measurable goal before you start losing weight. It does not matter what your desired end result is, whether it be one size or 50 pounds. Having a specific goal will increase your odds for success.
Be sure to keep track of the progress you are making each week. You should only weigh yourself once a week and keep track of your weigh-ins. List all the foods you eat on a daily basis in a food diary in your journal. You will be more aware of what you are eating since you will be keeping track of it, and this will lead to you making better food selections.
When you let yourself go too long without eating, you will naturally crave foods that are high in calories and fat. This is a primal instinct that is hard to eliminate. Save money and avoid temptation by planning out your meals and bringing them with you before you leave the house. Pack your lunch based off of your plan, instead of dining out. You will save lots of money and get a better quality of food. The food you prepare for yourself will have far less fat, sodium and calories than anything you could buy at a restaurant or fast food eatery.
You need to eat good foods and exercise regularly in order to successfully lose weight. For some people, adhering to a healthy eating plan is easy, although they may find that sticking to an exercise schedule can be a little more difficult. Working out with a friend and finding routines that are fun can make working out easier. Having a friend along when you exercise is a lot of fun and will help you stay motivated.
Do not let other members of your household fill your fridge with bad food choices. In the beginning, this might be difficult for you and all others in your household, but anything that is bad for you is bad for them as well. You should reserve your kitchen shelves and your fridge for healthy foods only. This doesn’t mean you have to go without snacks! Both adults and kids will benefit from eating fruit. Granola is another healthy snack you can enjoy while on a diet.
You will be able to stick to your weight loss goals when you have support. Your friends can help to encourage and motivate you if you ask for their aid. Having friends cheer you on when you are ready to give up is a great benefit. Your friends can be great motivators when you feel like being a couch potato and not working towards your goals. That’s what friends are for.
