Keep track of how much you lose weight each week. Keep a log that charts your weekly weight loss progress. Use this book to keep track of the food you eat. Record everything you eat on a daily basis to hold yourself responsible for what you eat. By forcing yourself to write out your food, you will become less apt to eat junk.


If you let yourself get hungry, you will begin to think with your tummy rather than your head. In order to avoid this problem, bring healthier foods with you when you leave the house. When you take your lunch you can make much healthier choices than eating out at a restaurant or diner. Packing your lunch gives you control over portion sizes and calories. In addition to cutting back on calories, bagged lunches are also cheaper than eating out.


An effective weight loss plan includes a healthy diet and a regular exercise routine. For some people, adhering to a healthy eating plan is easy, although they may find that sticking to an exercise schedule can be a little more difficult. By choosing activities that you enjoy or getting a workout buddy, you can make it easier to stick to your workout plan. Combine the two if you find it to be necessary. Go to a fitness class or on a walk together.


Make junk food hard to get your hands on. You can either hide it from view or just not buy it at all. You are more likely to eat healthy foods if you are surrounded by them.


Inform your loved ones that you want to lose weight and gain their support. The constant encouragement of your support group is sure to keep you motivated. If you feel discouraged, talk to one of your friends. A good old pat on the back is a superb motivator.
